Bathroom/Drink FountainWe are lucky enough to have a bathroom in our classroom. Students are expected to raise their hands and ask to be excused to the bathroom.
The drinking fountain is located outside in the hallway and just down a bit to the right. However students all have water bottles that they fill up in the morning and can re-fill at snack time, so leaving for the drinking fountain is normally never needed. |
Morning ArrivalStudents will have the first 20 minutes of the day to come into the classroom, hand in their homework (if any) into the mailboxes, along with notes for the teacher. At this time they are also asked to fill water bottles, sharpen pencils, and have planners out and ready for review. They are allowed to go down to the library however they know they need to be back in the classroom at 8:10.

Lunchtime, Lunchtime!

When the students enter the classroom they will know that they have to choose their lunch choice for the day. By the front of the room is a cupboard with a pocket chart that has three columns as well as on the side of the cupboard is envelopes that have the students names on index cards in them based on the table they sit at.
First Choice Column = Students place their name cards in this column if they want what is being offered at the hot lunch at school that day.
PBJ Choice = Students will place their name card in this column if they want peanut butter and jelly for lunch that day.
Lunchbox Choice = If student's bring their own lunch they are to place their name cards in this column.
This is just our classrooms way of keeping organized for our cafeteria workers. It's a simple routine that allows us to line up in our choice order and gets our students in and out of the lunch line with ease and also without troubles for those who may want to change their minds as well. The cafeteria staff loves us for doing this for them!
